The Aya Duafe Arts & Entrepreneurship Program

The Aya Duafe Arts & Entrepreneurship Program

Ujamaa Collective is committed to investing in the next generation of Black women artists and entrepreneurs that connect their creative work to racial, gender, and economic justice and the uplift of the Black community.

Taking a youth-centered approach, the program provides training activities for participants to develop their creative practices while ensuring their development is socially practical and culturally relevant. Our project based, experiential business incubator will safely allow girls of color, ages 13-21, real opportunities to experience the worlds of arts and entrepreneurship, commerce and fair trade, from a local and global perspective. Participants create, market, and sell their own products through Ujamaa’s commercial platforms and realize an opportunity for leadership development on social issues that impact them directly.

Your support of Aya Duafe assists us in offering a guided, cooperative infrastructure for young women to share their unique vision of the world.  Funds donated help us cover program training fees, materials and art supplies, transportation for the students, and hearty meals. Become a partner today and let’s take our youth on an historical and contemporary journey through making and community learning that demonstrates within our cultural legacy, art is never just for art’s sake.
